Are Sport Shock absorbers the same as the Coupe?

Also has anyone a o/s door mirror for sale for a '71-72 car?

Shocks the same as chassis the same. Keep an eye out delphi de-carbons best for a standard Fulvia, but Spax do a nice adjustable for the front.

The door mirrors are universal......

£17.64 inc VAT for their "Ital" looks good value.

The Ital mirror is indeed great value at £17.64. It is very similar but not quite the same but would take a keen eye to notice the difference. May just be better to purchase two!

Fitted an Ital to my Fulvia about 10 years ago. Do you know, I don't think the price has changed since then. Very nice mirror and chrome still in perfect condition.

That's a very purposeful looking car Stanley... my local postie has just delivered one of these Ital mirrors and it's much better than I was expecting it to be. One of the best features is the locating stud, I wasn't happy to see a number of mirrors on the market utilise a single bolt fixing with no additional method of location.

Something I've been meaning to ask you, do you get any opacity issues with your perspex windows?

No major problems so far with the windows Rob. There are some odd marks on the interior of the rear window (I think) in a certain light but generally crystal clear. Graham Bates cut and fitted them when he was fitting the alloy doors and other jobs. In fact I remember him saying he used polycarbonate because it's 'perspex' itself which can go cloudy over time. I plan to use some toothpaste on the rear window which is magical stuff for both polishing out scratches from acrylic watch glasses and also really cleaned up my Lybra headlight covers. I must say I'm pleased with the look of the Fulvia these days, which was partly accidental. The chrome grill had become a dull grey with bits of cream plastic showing through. I remembered I had a spare black one in my bits so fitted that. This meant taking the chrome headlight surrounds off which revealed a black painted panel so I left it like that.

I have been informed that fitting an o/s door mirror to a LHD Fulvia Zagato is of no real use- it is off more benefit to the passenger than the driver!
Has anyone any experience/shed any light on this?

Although similar to an 'Ital' mirror, can anyone match this one in the photo?

Isnt that a standard Fulvia coupe/ sport door mirror?

Re mirrors on both sides when I fitted mine on my sport i sat in the car and asked Sarah to move the mirror up the wing. It is a compromise with plain mirror but I never got as far as the door. Both mirror work (vaguely) at about the bonnet shut line.

It's interesting to look at the relative positions of door mirrors on Porsche 911s from the 90's (which are the ones i know about - there may be more models) whether lhd or rhd. They are markedly different from side to side as they are fitted in the optimum position for the drivers rear visibility.

In the service manual they are both fitted with decarbon front and back. I use decarbon on both coupe1600 and sport 1600 rears and spax on the front of the coupe as they are easy to dial in externally adjusted and Konis for the sport front (but wish I had bought the Spax....).

Tim,

I like the wing mounted mirrors on your car- what are they, are they effective & can they still be purchased?
I think they could compliment the standard door mirror.

As for shockers I think I will stick to standard de-carbons.
