There was an interesting lunchtime news report today about apprentices at a restoration company in the Midlands embarking upon a full restoration of an Aurelia. Not that I watch daytime TV or anything...no siree... too busy for such frivolous activity...

I was invited to the press launch and have written a story that will appear in Retro-Speed Magazine tomorrow (www.retro-speed.co.uk). The company is CMC (Classic Motor Cars) based in Bridgenorth and the 4th Series Aurelia GT is owned by non-executive Director David Barzilay. The company owned by Peter Neumark is top end, and runs an apprenticeship scheme with eight chosen to do a complete restoration on this car. This is no silly TV game show, but a fully involving responsibility with each step signed off by management. The enthusiasm, and the knowledge already gained by this dedicated team is unbelievable. The Project is also supported by local MP Philip Dunne (he is on the left in the picture, which is copyright, any reproduction must contain the name of the author, which in this case is www.retro-speed.co.uk It would be interesting to see if anybody knows the car. It is a 4th Series, built in 1954 and imported into the UK in 1960, registered to a Mr. Robin Ernshaw.

Robin Earnshaw I think was stimulated to buy a B20 after getting to know my late father's 4th series after he got it in 1960.  We were quite close neighbours in Blackheath, London.
Again if my memory is working right, Robin bought and wrote one off and then bought B20-2956 (2868 AD), still I think the earliest 4th series about, at least in my register.
Three small photos attached.
The  photo with 2 B20s and Robin and my father standing by the cars outside our house in Blackheath must be around 1970 soon after Robin bought his car.
The photo beside the garage must be not long afterwards besides the same house.
The one with Robin's car painted red and my car with the Series 3 Appia lights stuck on the rear must be around 1975-76 after I took the car on .  It was my only car and I was driving to Scotland and back so I needed good lights!

Thanks for the discovery of where it is now.

Great to see those old photos being scanned onto the forum and the stories behind this fabulous restoration.

Looking forward to more detail and news.

Here is a photo I have posted before but it's relevant again now - this is Robin Earnshaw driving his 4th Series B20, taken from my 6th Series car.

Great picture. We have now included yesterday's story in the feature section at www.retro-speed.co.uk should you wish to read it.

Excellent, so will there be any input or interaction with CMC by the LMC as regards this project?

Early days, but the lads have got some serious research to do before the strip down begins.
