A question regarding the seal inside the top sleeve of the front suspension. When I got my car it was fitted with a modified oil lip seal that leaked too much. I've tried another oil seal and a hydraulic type seal, but to no avail. I've no idea what was originally fitted so my question is can anyone tell me? The TAV shows a seal of some sort with a retaining clip but I don't know what it is.

As an Augusta owner with little/no knowledge of Aprilias (as I have demonstrated in the past) my guess would be felt but a bit odd being held in place by a circlip.
Am I lucky in that my suspension does not leak much - certainly less than Augusta and B10?

I think they are more an asbestos rope seal type material. I seem to remember Omicron had some when they bought Harry Manning's stock of spares, although this was many years ago, but they probably haven't had a great demand for them, I don't even think they knew what they were for at the time.
Might be worth asking.

An update. After further consultation I decided to go with a felt seal, turned up two punches and pressed out a seal from a sheet of 1/2" felt. To retain it I made two aluminium washers and held them in place with a circlip. So far the results have been promising with just a very slight seep after a couple of 100 km trips. The seal in the photo has been soaked in gear oil hence the green colour.
