Peter, there have been several posts about buying a car in Italy and driving it home ..... all sorts of problems with Italian plates and associated bureaucracy. How have you managed to get around these problems?

I like the car aerial position. Never seen one there before!

I'm puzzled! You appear to be driving it home on the original Roma registration plates; I thought from previous threads that these could only be retained if the new owner was domiciled in Italy; otherwise temporary export plates had to be bought at vast expense. Have we been misinformed? edit: I see Andy has already asked the question

Looks just like the 1.8 Berlina my friend at European Classic Cars says he had delivered today. He sent me the photo below. I'm going to have a look at it tomorrow... will report back. Just think Peter, there was no need for that trip to Italy, you could have bought one on your doorstep!!

Brian, that will depend on the hinge set up. On the Flaminia the hinges are placed so the leading edge of the boot lid drops down into a recess.

Over the years, I have always driven my latest purchase home. Just leaving Reims after a splendid stop over. Nearly 1700kms down and Calais in a couple of hours. Why would you do it any other way.

I beg to differ, it may be broken but part of the aerial is still in place. Brian 8227

You must have remarkable eye sight Brian, I wouldn't be able to tell whether the aerial was broken off or just retracted. Anyway, the position is exactly the same as my Flaminia as shown below.

Frank, I blew the picture right up and it looks more like it's broken not retracted and certainly not as much as on your Flaminia. Brian 8227

Well, now back home with car tucked up in the garage. Superb trip, and worked out exactly to plan.
