Both scenic runs have been established, the Touring Rally/Observation run will be around 45 miles whilst the alternative (& a little more challenging) route without clues will be around 65 miles, the latter picking up the start and end of the former.

The weather was gorgeous on Saturday, I hope it will be the same on the event itself.

As I said in my previous post, only 5 rooms out of the possible 57 left to book, please could we ensure to make it a 100% Lancia attendance and have the hotel to ourselves. Thanks to all those who have already enrolled, you won't be disappointed.

Between the hotel and myself we have to date only received 40 menu's/car details. Please can those outstanding confirm your food choices and car/reg number details to Stephanie at the Hotel and to me at paulgreenway65@gmail.com at your earliest convenience, thanks.

Less than 3 weeks to go to the 2017 GNW and almost everything is sorted.

As mentioned in the final paragraph of my last post there are still outstanding vehicle and menu details from a number of people attending. Apologies if these have been sent to the Hotel, but I have not been party to them and Stephanie at the hotel I understand only has booking surnames.

Some people may not have a computer/internet access and/or are not on the forum so I will be unable to obtain this information at this late stage, however others will be, so please can you Email (paulgreenway65@gmail.com) or PM me with your party & car/reg details in order for me to compile a list of participants & their vehicles that I would like to include in the welcome pack on arrival.

Please do not take this the wrong way but Stephanie has sent me the following names that she & I have not received this information from, they are Adamson, Bradwell, Capaldi, Jones, Phipps, Priestman, Radgick, Smal & Taylor and any other last minute bookings.

Kindly appreciated in advance thank you.

Paul.

Hello all,
Sorry I'm not a regular forumist.
Looking forward to seeing you all next weekend!

I'll be there with my daughter and our 1971 Fulvia.

On the Sunday we're happy to join in on the Westmorland County Show.
Saturday, long or shorter run, whichever one is best to join :-)

Last minute information & itinerary-

Less than a week to go, everything is as organised as could be expected although there are still some people who have not provided menu choices or car/reg details which does not help when trying to finalise welcome packs & seating plans. Not to worry.

According to 'The Met Office' the weather for Windermere is remaining dry until next Sunday with a mixture of sunny spells and cloud so fingers crossed they get it right. There is a great selection of cars from Lambda's to the latest Delta & Ypsilon and most models in between.

The shortest and most direct route to get to the Hotel is from M6 J36 take A590 & follow for Barrow & Ulverston until you approach Newby Bridge (You will come off the dual carriageway, drop down past the Shell filling station into Newby Bridge) and then take the A592 for Windermere & Bowness at the roundabout. Timescale from J36 is 24 mins and distance is just under 20 miles. Address for the Hotel is Beech Hill Hotel & SPA, Newby Bridge Road, Windermere. LA23 3LR.

I will be at the Hotel from 11.00hrs on the Friday, check in is from 15.00hrs but i'm sure if you get there earlier it won't be a problem. There is no real agenda for Friday, there will be a welcome pack on arrival, but feel free to use the hotel Spa & pool facilities, take a walk by the lake, pop into scenic Bowness which is only a five minute drive away or lounge around in the hotel where there will be a choice of restaurant or bar meals and a large reception/bar area where you can mix with the other members- the choice is yours.

There are two amazing routes on Saturday, a long 65 mile run without clues (you won't want any distractions from the driving experience & scenery) starting around 11.00hrs and a shorter 45 mile observation run that will commence once the cars opting for the longer route have gone. Both routes beginning & latter stages are the same so hopefully all the cars will end at the same location prior to returning to the hotel before 17.30hrs.

Observation run sheets and quiz sheets will require to be handed to Claire no later than 18.00hrs for marking prior to the Gala Dinner.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Kind regards,

Paul.

I regret that Roland and I will not be in my Lambda after all, as it needs a few things doing to it which won't be done in time, so we will be in my Yeti. Don't be too shocked when you see I'm as bald as a coot!

A big thank you to Paul and Claire for a very enjoyable Great Northern Weekend, good hotel in a fabulous position, friendly staff and great driving country and as usual lovely Lancia folk to share the experience.  The only slight mishap was when my rubber mounting deciding not to hold the back of my exhaust to the car, then I wrecked Jan's belt trying to hold up aa hot pipe as I forgot to put any wire in the Dedra for this very purpose.
Fortunately not far behind were the 2000HF Team of James and Iain Nelson who came to the rescue with some wire, so we were back in business - thank you again chaps. Back to Scotland next year - yippee!

It was the first time Dianne and I had attended the event and the longest run we had done in my Fulvia for many years too, 700 miles round trip, it certainly lived up to its name!  Thanks to Paul and Claire for arranging a lovely weekend, great hotel and company too.

Re-iterate all of the above. Great work Paul and Claire you have got the job in 2020!!!!

Could folk do a write up and photos (or just photos) to Jack Romano / Mike Long for VL publishing.

All mine were taken in the rainy conditions on Saturday so I know some of you have a good set when the sun was shining on Saturday afternoon.

And we had a blast back with the new cache of club tools kindly donated by Dr David Wheeler. Got home in 5 hours (240 miles you do the math) including a pit stop.....

The rear wheels only scraped the rear arches about a dozen times. Shame as they were new tyres........What one does for this club!

Thanks to all the GNW participants in Windermere last weekend, it was a great event made better with you all being there.

We nearly filled the 56 rooms in the hotel, had almost 50 Lancia's- a good spread of models from the 20's to date- and over 100 people for the Gala dinner including those from Holland, Spain & Hong Kong.

It makes all the organising worthwhile when an event is appreciated by a big turnout.

Grazie mille once again to those who have messaged us on the forum, social media, email & of course those who thanked us in person.

See you all in Scotland next year.

Strange looking at those photos - for me its the Dedras and Themas that make me nostalgic as the rest were always "classics".

Is that a March Augusta?
