Beta HPE/Coupe bonnet
« on: 15 June, 2016, 10:36:42 AM »
I've just started work on my Beta Coupe and I'm looking for a bonnet, either VX or normal and preferably solid.

I have a standard bonnet with a good leading edge but some rust issues in the double skin behind the grille. Free to a good home.

Hi Guy

Not sure the last one meets the 'preferably solid' part TBH......

Adam, do not forget if you have a 2000 then you will need the later bonnet with the wide raised section or as you say the VX style.

Flat bonnet included it's been a while since I've seen one Peter, whilst it's expensive to buy and ship anyone needing one for an early Beta could do worse!

Last one, well.....  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for your answers all, and also for pointing out that it needs to be a 2000 version, I'd forgotten that there was a flat one.

As for the ones for sale, there's a reason the first hasn't sold yet, the second (as far as I remember) has the early grille arrangement, the car in the third ad I've already had the doors and wings off, the bonnet had gone, and the last one... well. It'd probably be easier to buy the wheels, melt them down and make an aluminium bonnet.

I've given Neil a shout about the one he's offering anyhow.

Don't be put off by the grille arrangement. Back in the day I had an early Beta with the series 1 interior and raised bonnet centre section that I upgraded to full series 2 spec with an interior transplant plus the later grille/headlights/surrounds. The early bonnet uses flat hinges but the later one a step down Z shaped hinge. The mounting points are the same and the hinges interchangeable to suit the grille you've got.

One might think you were trying to scupper the disposal of my bonnet!
