I got a copy of The Automobile and was delighted to find it also has a biographical article on Tony Brooks whose garage in Weybridge seems to have been the dealer who first sold my berlina. In Martin Buckley's article I was a bit sceptical about his statement that UK sold berlinas were re carpeted before being marketed. I have now had two original RHD berlinas neither of which had any sign of having been recarpeted. The floor covering, with the exception of the footwell mats, is glued down and clearly has never been disturbed whereas if these areas had been carpeted I would expect it to be trapped in place by other trim and fittings.
