I'm looking for new brake discs for my Fulvia Zagato S2 - I've spoken to Omicron and got a price from them but thought I would see if there are any recommendations for alternatives. I've found a few alternatives via eBay such as these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-EBC-OE-PREMIUM-REAR-DISCS-PAIR-BRAKING-DISCS-OE-QUALITY-D066/262680657723? but wondered if anyone has recommendations for other suppliers or brands. I'm sure I'll be wanting front ones too so any recommendations for both ends of the car gratefully received. |

I bought a front for my 2c in 2013 to go with the one I bought of EBay years, Series 1 Front discs were like the proverbial rocking horse do do, but they have them now. Brian 8227  |

I'm still waiting for a reply from Italy - does anyone know if it is usual for them to take time to respond? No real rush just that as i have finally managed to make a start on the car I'm now impatient to get on with it as quickly as I can!!

I think that Italy may have been on holiday this week - Liberation day is a bank holiday for many (yesterday) and if it's anything like here, they may have taken the day between the weekend and the holiday to make a longer break

Quite correct Simon. It was " il ponte" here in Italy on Monday with Liberation Day yesterday. Should be back to normal today but with catching up to be done it will take a day or two.

Thanks guys - hadn't thought of mid-week holidays, as I spend a reasonable amount of time in France I should have done! Hopefully I'll get a response soon as I also asked about handbrake shoes which may as well be replaced whilst it is in pieces and they seem really difficult to get.

Hi Andy,
I've just rebuilt my handbrake and replaced the discs. Omicron can supply the handbrake shoes on an exchange basis. I bought the discs from EBC and I've no complaints about the quality, they seem to be very well made.

Thanks Barry, that is the solution I was considering. Good to know the EBC discs are good quality - I've had some of theirs before for a very different car and was happy with them for that but the Lancia is a little unusual so the recommendation is good to have.

Without knowing, I would think EBC will be soft steel so will rust quickly (ie after washing a car etc) whereas the oem Lancia disks are of harder steel (even though they rust over 50 years...).Just something to think about.

That's an interesting point, Tim, about older discs being more rust resistant.
Modern discs do seam to corrode very badly.
The original discs on my S3 Coupe are scored, and generally tatty. Not too rusty though.
Does anyone skim discs these days?

Not for my B12(!) but did in past for Maserati discs which cost the thick end of £400 a pair, was worthwhile until we sourced alternatives at £150 a set. P |

My local engine machine shop does - with my Flavia V they cleaned up the disks and only ended up taking 30-40 thou off. |
