Seems the car has had a lot of mods over the years such as the Nardi carb setup. the twin circuit brakes etc. What was also included was a S3 engine and gearbox, front axle, back axle and lots of other stuff. Terry and I will be having another trip up next week with a van to bring the spares back and some tools so we can free off the brakes so we can recover the car down to Hartlepool.

It's definitely a Series 2, Jim; if I'm reading the commission plate correctly I think it says C10-11263, which makes it the sixth right-hand drive Series 2 built (rhd starts at C10-11258) and should date from 1956. Is it saveable?

Same here, is it saveable, I suspect even the laid up/barnfinds of Appias and indeed original UK registered Appias is in single figures, would make a nice project for the LMC/member or some other arrangement perhaps?

Thinking about it, it is generally quoted that the Series 2 was introduced in 1956, but ... perhaps that should read for the 1956 model year, in which case this could well be a very late 1955 car - dare one hope that it was the 1955 Motor Show car?!!!!

Hi all
I consulted the oracle AKA Don Cross and he thinks it might have an Abarth head to go with the Nardi carb kit. The owner told me he has some documentation to go with it and he was certain it was registered in 1955. Perhaps more will be revealed when we go up later next week.
As to is it saveable...as we all know any car can be saved but it depends on how deep one`s pockets are. Judging by the corrosion in the boot floor, boot lid, rear wings etc.. it is in the project category. It might be easier to judge when we get it out in the daylight!

Club Lancia Appia list twenty in Italy - from the photos they all appear to be roadworthy:

Then add a very small number here in the UK, plus maybe a few in Australia and South Africa, so probably thirty world-wide ... not many at all!

They are like the old proverbial bus. We have a new member Herman in Belgium who has just joined he has a S2 and we have been donated a very early S2 from Scotland. see pic of Herman's car

had a quick tinker with the engine and I can report the crank can be moved fairly easily by hand phew! So possibly in the morning I will strip it down clean it all up pop a new gasket in and put it back together

Hi all
In preparation for the arrival of the S2 car I have took the plunge and purchased a staircase so we can utilise the space above the office area down at the unit. My mate Terry has been roped in and he loves messing about with bits of wood

Hi all
Staircase is up and have been mainly tidying up today some before and after shots, the new staircase has really helped. Do we think a S2 will fit in there?
