A couple of photos from a recent driving test organised by the Colchester Vintage Motor Club at which not one but two Lancia Ardeas were present – a rare occasion!
The white one is a Series 2 from 1942 and the grey one a 1954 series 4 owned by member Robert Ely.
Both Lancias and their drivers did very well but were ultimately barred from competing due to their youthfulness.

I fell in love with the white one when in joined us for lunch at Alderton while on the DEFear Raid on Saturday. Seems it was commandeered by the Germans in Italy during the war, and was repatriated to the owner by the Americans in 1947. It's only had 3 owners since 1942. Brian 8227  |

Hi Brian - I noticed it - just amused me that it's deemed unimportant enough to be tucked away. Unless the actual driving view is different.

Stan, was it a case of if it's in the middle, and with a glove box one side, and the other instruments in a same size aperture the other side, it is easy to cater for left or Right hand drive. Brian 8227 |

The small instruments are (L to R) Fuel gauge, Oil pressure gauge and Clock.
Interestingly the fuel gauge is mechanical, it works via a small cable over pulleys to a float in the fuel tank, which of course is just behind the dashboard.
