S2 Coupe interior mirror removal

Can anyone tell me how to get to the screws that affix the interior mirror, I don't need to remove it, I am just chasing an earth problem with the courtesy light.  Light only works if I wobble the mirror and it works if I earth the lamp base but can't find how it is attached.

I think the mirror pulls off, which exposes the base and screws?

You need to ‘wallop’ it from behind; from the windscreen backwards and it should come off. There is a spring clip in the base, that’s attached to the roof, that keeps it in place. Or you could always ‘wallop’ it with your head as I did the first time!

So it works as it's supposed to do and break away in an accident

Thanks everyone, although it is a bit weird that you hit the mirror on the windscreen side to dislodge it as I don't think my head would be going that way in an accident.

I don’t normally sit that far forward, but I’d taken the dash top off and was trying to get a look into the fan mechanism of the heater, I think, whilst balancing on the edge of both seats astride the gear stick and the handbrake.... So err, you know, a bit cramped there at the front, and wallop, as I leant back!
