By the way the car is NOT purple!  That's the camera's idea of mixing daylight, tungsten and fluorescent light sources!

Purple according the the photo I'm looking at it's a fetching mix of blue & green

Interesting! Have you calibrated your computer monitor recently?

Or maybe it's just my rose tinted specs! Hope to fire her up and MoT on Monday - still waiting for drier weather!

Howz the 308 project?

Yes fits fine as long as you angle the gearbox up a little at the bell housing end to align the clutch/inputshaft.

Engine CG/Crane lifting point is right between middle inlet ports.

I think next time I would fit the exhaust side engine mount rather than leave it attached to the subframe - 2 vertical bolts easier than 4 at an angle!

I always took mine out from underneath on the subframe.  That gives a nice stable base to dismantle the engine on and no crane needed.

Reading Neils' post reminded me however that my car always seemed uncomfortably high when raised enough to clear the motor - axle stands and bits of wood = a little wobbly....

Are you planning to be out towards the end of the season?

I took my engine out from above exactly as described below.
Whilst keeping it on the subframe is handy for manouvering afterwards it seems more wobbly and less obvious to me to lift the car off the engine rather than the engine out of the car.It just depends on space and equipment I guess.
