Just seen this on Gumtree
https://www.gumtree.com/p/lancia/lancia-y10-y10-fire-hatchback-1.0-petrol/1379461176
Is it as good as it looks?

It's been around for ages on multiple platforms and is owned by a dealer who isn't in any hurry to sell. I have been to look at it  and it is very good but is the most basic model and would need some replacement of perishable items before I would rely on it for anything other than a local journey. I haven't seen anything other than a Turbo break the £1,000 price barrier. Perversely the more primitive Fiat Panda commands far higher prices than a Y10.

Looks like it's all set for a life going the rounds of the dealers; it's now with Spinning Wheel in Chesterfield with a £1000 uplift in price, whilst losing 20k miles  Roll Eyes

He'll keep trotting it out at intervals on the chance someone will fall for it. To be fair you could easily spend that or more on something of lesser quality but there is no sign the market can stand remotely that sort of figure from the sort of enthusiast that is likely to be interested in it. There's a stronger market for Pandas and you can get one in similar condition to that for half the money.

You could say that about most Lancias, one of the reasons why I am happy to own a Lancia! Quality and rarity don't necessarily go with high values.

Quite so. Sometimes I wonder whether to praise Lancia to the roof tops or keep the secret safe for the cognoscenti.

As a trader, doesn't Spinning Wheel need to be truthful in their description? When I went to look at the car at Classicwise last year, there were three names (excluding the then-owner, Sam Fretwell of Classicwise) in the logbook not one, the recorded mileage fifteen years ago was 45,000 (now a claimed 22,000), and to state 'said to be the original press car' is stretching the known facts beyond breaking point!

Car dealer and "truthful" seem like uneasy bed fellows. The e-bay advert is loosely worded enough to probably get away with it but you could report it for removal if sufficiently aggrieved. He doesn't say "only 22,000 miles from new" or "only 22,000 miles". If 22,000 miles shows on the clock that's all he needs to be referring to. The "one owner from 17/5/1985" is perhaps most questionable but it doesn't say "only one previous owner". He'd wriggle out of it in court I expect.
