It looks low. Is it compressed on that side as it spins but the car looks flat because of camber?
...or have I forgotten how they look?

Thought this image of Tony Wood (Maserati) overtaking the Lancia D50 might be of interest. The D50 sounded off-song but still finished 9th. Naturally copyright.

Was it towed into the pits? I can see a strap around the front suspension.

It was being driven by one Helmut Gassmann who I believe is the new owner. My impression is that it was being driven cautiously by someone who just wanted the experience of driving such a wonderful machine, rather than trying to be competitive. Some photos attached.

P, Am I to take it that you thought my photos including naked carburettors were 'improper'? Northern Irish prudity perhaps!

Can't have been many GP cars back then using Solexes can there? I thought Webers or Dellortos were the carbs to have. What with the Lancia badge and the Solexes I almost have a D50 in my garage.

Great pics both Colin and Peter
I never knew the engine was skewed right to left presumably to get the propshaft down the side to lower the seat and C of G???

nothing to do with Lancia but if you want to see an odd driveshaft arrangement have a look on line for Bugatti Aeroplane c 1937? it had a 8 cylinder Bugatti engine behind the pilot and the two drive shafts went to counter rotating propellors, one down the right side of the pilot, and one down the left!
